Unlike Essaouira Beach, Sidi Kaouki feels quieter and less crowded, which makes it a great spot to relax and enjoy the simple beauty of the ocean. 

For me, it’s a place where time slows down, and that’s part of its charm.

Sidi Kaouki is also known for water sports, especially surfing and windsurfing, thanks to the strong winds in the area. 

Even if I don’t always take part, I like to watch surfers riding the waves while the sun shines over the sea.

Although I’ve never visited Mogador Island before—since it’s forbidden to set foot there—it has always fascinated me.

The only people who can get close to Mogador Island are surfers and those skilled in windsurfing or kitesurfing.

11. Things To See in Essaouira — A Journey to Tafedna Beach

I first visited Tafedna Beach about 22 years ago with my family, and the memory of that trip has stayed with me. 

At the time, it was a wild beach, little known except to the residents of the surrounding areas. 

It felt untouched and natural, which made it special. Even today, when I think about things to see in Essaouira, Tafedna Beach always comes to mind.

Back then, it was a wonderful beach where we used to set up tents for the day. 

Surrounded by the forest on one side and the sea on the other, it gave us a feeling of being far from everything.

Years later, I had the chance to return to Tafedna Beach with a friend while heading toward Agadir. I was amazed at how much it had changed. 

There were more visitors, some cafes, and even small guesthouses, but it had managed to keep its natural charm. 

It reminded me that Essaouira’s surroundings are full of surprises, and this beach is truly one of the unique things to see in Essaouira.

What I love about Tafedna is that it offers both peace and activity. 

You can simply sit and enjoy the view, or take part in fishing and surfing, which are becoming popular there. 

The mix of tradition, with locals still living in the nearby village, and the growing tourism makes it a place where different worlds meet.

If you’re a beach lover, Tafedna is worth the trip. It’s only about 65 km from Essaouira, so you can easily plan a visit for a day or even longer. 

There are three main ways to get there: by taxi, bus, or car. 

I personally prefer going by car because it gives me more time to stop and enjoy the scenery along the way.

For me, Tafedna Beach is more than just another seaside spot—it’s part of my personal story with Essaouira. 

From my first visit with family to my return years later, it has always impressed me with its beauty. 

That is why I always include it on my list of must-visit things to see in Essaouira, especially for those who want a mix of nature, calm, and authentic Moroccan life.
